With reference to the letter which you

sent to Mr. Creech Jones' Private Secretary

on the 21st August and the latter's

(29) acknowledgment of the 22nd of August,

regarding the grievances of certain pre-war

non-gazetted members of the Hong Kong Police

Force, the position is that somewhat similar

representations to those made by

Inspector Shepherd were received in the

Colonial Office in May last from several

officers on leave in the United Kingdom, in

the form of a petition to the Secretary of
